‘ BIKOLAGE’

Time zone 1: Samedi le 14 juillet.

Time zone 2: Samedi le 14 juillet.

_________________________________________

The idea of Global Gutz is to have a live traffic bicycle courier race in lots of cities all over the world, starting simultaneously, e.g. at 1 p.m. in San Francisco, and 4 p.m. in New York, etc. and held over a given distance and a given amount of checkpoints in an effort to try to make race conditions as equal as possible for everyone. This way we can have a world wide competition without spending a lot of money for traveling somewhere. Everyone will just be racing in their hometown knowing that in various cities around the world there are messengers racing with or against them, and the first male and female competitors to finish will be the lucky winners.
Why is this idea so fresh? First of all, it doesn’t take much of an effort to organize. Then, everybody gets to stay home and still race in an international courier competition, and finally we all have the chance to be part of something greater than our daily strive and maybe win and be the fastest in your city or the world.

One fact proved difficult in the first global gutz: we couldn’t find a format to allow for everybody to race at a decent time (i.e. either the Australians or the U.S. west coast would have had to start early in the morning). This made us think that we should have two “time zones”

This year the cities can choose between 2 time zones to race.

Time zone 1 is on Saturday July 14. Start time for Los Angeles would be 4 am. Start time for London would be noon. Start time for Sydney would be 10 pm.

Time zone 2 is on Saturday July 14. Start time for Los Angeles would be 1 pm. Start time for London would be 9 pm. Start time for Sydney would be Sunday June 20 6am.

Cities can choose which time zone is best for them. Surely for some cities only one of the starting times makes sense.

5$$$ GOES TOWARDS PLANE TICKET FOR 1ST PLACE WOMAN AND MAN FOR THIS YEARS WORLDS!!!!!

Movie night and BBQ after party for Global Gutz Montreal!!!
We will be showing Best of BFF 2010 and EMPIRE
Also a sneak peek of LINE OF SIGHT!!!
Get ready for BFF MTL!

Bike Film Festival Call for submissions

Posted on 22nd February 2011 in Uncategorized

BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL: CALL FOR ENTRIES
Deadline: April 1

http://www.bicyclefilmfestival.com

Submissions are now open for the Eleventh Annual Bicycle Film Festival! The BFF is
looking for films with a bike-related theme. Any style is acceptable: animation,
experimental, narrative, documentary and music videos are all a go.

There is no fee to enter your film, simply download a submission form from the BFF
website, and send a copy of the film to the BFF Head Office in New York.

The Bicycle Film Festival began in 2001 when Brendt Barbur, founding director of the
festival was hit by a bus while riding his bike in New York City. He insisted on
turning his negative experience into a positive one. The Bicycle Film Festival is a
platform to celebrate the bicycle through music, art and, of course, film.

The BFF travels to over 25 cities around the world, including Paris, London, Tokyo,
New York -- and Sydney. Last year, more than 225,000 people attended the festival.
The BFF is not only a showcase for new films, but also, includes rock shows, street
parties, art shows, dinners, bike rides and more!

The BFF over the past ten years is proud to be a platform for exposure for many
independent filmmakers and artists, and to show a range of emerging filmmakers to
established artists, including Albert Maysles, Spike Jonze, Mike Mills, The Neistat
Brothers, Michel Gondry, and Tom Sachs.

The 2011 submission deadline is April 1. Any inquiries please email
info@bicyclefilmfestival.com

i suppose it would be ideal to continue bombarding you with bicycle film festival information. perhaps some visuals would be more pleasing to ya’ll.

in case you haven’t seen the amazing trailer for this year done by the talented and so sweet Marco Mucig. Check sa donc!

When I went down for the NYC BFF I got a chance to talk to Marco about the filming of the trailer. Obviously I was curious as to how the whole sparkler + bicycle +rubber combo went. He said they had a couple tires explode, frames darkened, legs heated a little too hot, and generally a whole lot of fun for 3 days. The exploding BFF sign took close to a day to set up and was exploded once and they had just one chance to catch their shot. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it, but it still gives my throat a clench and goosebumps all over. Hope to ride with you in Italy sometime Marco!
